NDC has clear intention to remove you from office – Bawumia tells Jean Mensa
Former Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has called on party members to end internal conflicts and concentrate on defending Ghana’s democracy.

Speaking at the NPP National Delegates Conference in Accra, Dr. Bawumia accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of trying to weaken democratic institutions, particularly through efforts to remove the Chief Justice and target the Electoral Commissioner.
“Let’s stop the internal attacks now,” he stated. “We must focus on the NDC’s clear attempts to undermine democracy and the rule of law.”
He also condemned alleged acts of political violence during the recent Ablekuma North re-run election, describing the situation as one marred by “thuggery” from NDC-affiliated groups in the presence of law enforcement and media.
Dr. Bawumia called on former President John Mahama to take responsibility for curbing political violence and issued a strong warning: “Let me remind them that the elephant never forgets. We will prosecute offenders when we assume office in 2029, Insha Allah.”
He emphasized the need for discipline and unity within the NPP to ensure victory in the next election cycle.
“It is discipline, humility, and the lessons we’ve learned that will make us more appealing to Ghanaians in 2028,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia also condemned identity-based politics, warning against the dangers of tribalism and religious division.
“Tribalism and religious bigotry pose an existential threat. They should have no place in the New Patriotic Party,” he concluded.
