In a new development following the passing of Ghanaian highlife legend Daddy Lumba, his biological brother has spoken publicly to clarify the family’s position amid recent tensions involving their family head.
In an interview on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Lumba’s brother confirmed that the extended family has visited the late musician’s Accra residence to verify news of his death.
He explained that the initial frustration expressed by their family head, Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, was due to the family finding out about Lumba’s death through social media, rather than being informed through traditional channels—especially important given Lumba’s royal heritage.
He revealed that after their visit, Lumba’s wife and her relatives followed custom by presenting a drink to formally inform the family of his passing.
He emphasized that there is no animosity between the family and the widow, and cautioned the public against spreading false narratives or stirring conflict online.
He concluded by announcing that a media committee will be inaugurated on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, to handle all official communication regarding Daddy Lumba’s funeral and memorial arrangements.
