Rare photos from the National Candlelight Vigil in honour of Daddy Lumba

Thousands gathered at Accra’s Independence Square on Saturday, August 2, to pay tribute to the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, during a candlelight vigil held in his honour.

Organised by the Creative Arts Agency, the solemn event served as a powerful tribute to the iconic musician whose music has left an indelible mark on Ghana’s cultural landscape.

The vigil drew a diverse crowd—including fans, fellow musicians, dignitaries, and members of the public—united in mourning and remembrance of a man widely celebrated for his timeless contributions to Ghanaian music.
