A group of loyal NPP members disowns Naa Torshie for joining Kennedy Agyapong

A group of loyal New Patriotic Party (NPP) members in Tema, who were once strong supporters and working team members of Irene Naa Torshie, the former Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund, have publicly distanced themselves from her. Their decision follows reports that she has switched allegiance to Kennedy Agyapong’s camp in the NPP flagbearer race.

Last week, several media outlets reported that Naa Torshie was preparing to join Kennedy Agyapong’s team to fulfill a prophecy made by Prophet El-Bernard. The prophecy claimed that a woman would become Vice President and be sworn in on January 7, 2029. According to sources, her decision to join Kennedy’s camp is tied to hopes of being chosen as his running mate in line with that prophecy.

A picture of Naa Torshie with members of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team surfaced on social media, seemingly confirming the reports of her defection. Following the circulation of the photo, her former loyalists who had been with her in the camp of former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia released a public disclaimer.

In their statement, the group made it clear that they no longer associate themselves with Naa Torshie, accusing her of putting personal ambition ahead of the collective interest of the party.

“The decision by the former MP, Irene Naa Torshie, to join another camp is a deeply personal one, driven by individual ambition. As you can all see, not a single one of her longstanding allies from our party has joined her. This speaks volumes,” the disclaimer issued by their spokesperson, Nana Yaw Ntim, stated.

The group went on to suggest that her move was influenced by disappointment over not being selected as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate. “It is now clear that her move is a reaction to not being selected as Dr. Bawumia’s running mate. She has chosen to disregard party loyalty and the collective goal for a personal vice-presidential pursuit that we all know is not a viable mission,” the statement added.

They also criticized her political record, noting that despite investing heavily in her constituency, her influence did not yield the desired results. “She was with us in Tema West, invested heavily, and we still lost. This demonstrates that our strength was never about one person,” they said.

The group concluded by reaffirming their commitment to Dr. Bawumia, describing him as their visionary leader. “We want to assure that our base remains solidly behind our visionary leader, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. We are more united and focused than ever, and we will do everything necessary to ensure his victory is sealed,” the group asserted…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
