Ablekuma North: Ghanaians want NDC to win the rerun, allow it – NPP told
The Head of Strategy for the 24-Hour Economy, Abdul-Nasser Alidu, has responded to comments by IMANI Africa’s Vice President, Kofi Bentil, suggesting that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is likely to win the upcoming parliamentary election rerun in Ablekuma North.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on July 5, 2025, Alidu said Bentil’s claim reflects public trust in the NDC government.
“I hear Kofi say here that if they rerun the election today, NDC is going to win, which to me suggests that that is what the people want. If that’s what the people want, then why not give them what they want?” he said.
Alidu dismissed suggestions that the Electoral Commission (EC) is favouring the NDC, which some critics have cited as the reason for the rerun.
He argued that if the EC were truly doing the NDC’s bidding, it would have agreed to rerun the elections in all 62 polling stations, not just 19.
“My understanding is that the NDC’s position has always been that 62 polling stations need to be rerun, not 19. So, I find it difficult to jump to the conclusion that the EC is doing the NDC’s bidding because if the EC were to do NDC’s bidding, they’d be running 62 polling stations, not 19 polling stations,” he explained.
Alidu further noted that the EC initially planned to complete the collation process based on three outstanding polling stations, but eventually obtained pink sheets for 18 out of 37 stations.
“The EC’s position has been that they want to finish collation because three were outstanding, but at the end of the day, what we are hearing is that they managed to get pink sheets for 18 out of 37 that was outstanding, and they can’t get consensus on 19 and what they want to do is to rerun the 19,” he added.
