ACP Kofi Sarpong opens up on taking bribe
Gospel musician Kofi Sarpong, who is also a senior police officer with the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), has stated that he has never taken a bribe in his entire career, either as a police officer or as a musician.

His comments come against the backdrop of repeated polls by Global InfoAnalytics and other independent research bodies, which have consistently ranked institutions such as the Ghana Police Service and the Immigration Service among the most corrupt in the country.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on Monday, January 26, 2026, Kofi Sarpong responded to a listener’s question about whether he had ever taken a bribe in the line of duty.
Laughing, the “Ohaw Ne Obre” composer replied, “Not at all… never.”
When asked whether he had ever been offered or pressured to take a bribe, he said he had not experienced such a situation.
Touching on his dual career as a police officer and gospel musician, Kofi Sarpong said rising further in the police service would not stop him from doing music, although it would depend on his workload.
“It will depend on the workload on me but the talent is from God and I can’t hide it. So, when I climb up the ladder, any opportunity that I will have, I will do what God asked me to do,” he said.
