Adwoa Safo in the hands of NPP Vice Chair Michael Mensah

The Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mr Mensah, has criticised comments made by former Dome-Kwabenya MP, Sarah Adwoa Safo, over the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.

According to Mr Mensah, Adwoa Safo’s endorsement of Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is driven by “selfish political interests” rather than the collective good of the party.

The former MP had appealed to delegates to vote for Dr Bawumia, warning that a presidency led by Kennedy Agyapong would threaten her political future due to their personal history and the possible impact on her chances of future appointments.

Reacting to her remarks, Mr Mensah described them as self-centred and contradictory. He noted that while Adwoa Safo portrayed Mr Agyapong as someone who would not favour “family and friends,” she openly admitted that her support for Dr Bawumia was based on what she personally stood to gain.

Speaking on the issue, Mr Mensah said, “This is clearly the doing of the Lord—that the campaign of Dr Bawumia is inadvertently campaigning for Kennedy Agyapong. Adwoa Safo is no ordinary politician, so her comments carry weight. She is thinking only of her personal political interests. It shows she is pursuing a political future at the expense of others.”

He further contrasted the two leading contenders, arguing that while members of Dr Bawumia’s campaign team are focused on securing appointments, Kennedy Agyapong is more concerned about the welfare of ordinary Ghanaians.

As the January 31 presidential primary approaches, Mr Mensah also cautioned delegates against being influenced by money.

“If they come to you with money and try to influence you to vote against Kennedy Agyapong—who the people prefer and who has what it takes to be President—spend their money, but vote against them,” he urged.

He dismissed fears of spiritual consequences for accepting such funds, adding, “If they curse you, it will not work. Many of these people have received their ex-gratia; if they give you money, take it. You can use it to buy a fowl or expand your business, but do not give them your vote.”…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
