Luis Enrique has given Nico Williams his first Spain call-up for the Nations League games, in a desperate attempt to keep Ghana from capping the youngster.
The Athletic Bilbao star was named to the manager’s 25-man squad for the Nations League games on Friday.
Following his impressive performances since the start of the season, the 20-year-old winger has been rewarded with his first international call-up.
However, observers believe the talented youngster was called up by the Spaniard manager to prevent Ghana from capping him.
It follows his senior brother Inaki Williams’ decision to switch allegiance to Ghana after years of rejection by the Spanish national team.
