Ballot materials arrive in Volta Region for December polls
Ballot materials for the presidential and parliamentary elections have arrived in the Volta region ahead of the December 7 general elections.
The materials were received at the headquarters of the Volta regional police command in Ho, Tuesday (November 26,2024) night under strict security protection.
Available statistics indicate that the region is receiving a total of 256 bags of ballot materials to be distributed across the 18 constituencies.
This number includes 186 bags of presidential ballots materials and 70 bags for the parliamentary.
The process is being monitored keenly by representatives of the various political parties.
“This is a process that we are following keenly for us to check what exactly the contents are, the serial numbers, the ballots statistics, the seals, even though we had our people escorting these materials from Accra to this place,” James Gunu, Volta regional secretary of the NDC told 3news.
His counterpart, Pope Yao Yevoo of the New Patriotic Party, also expressed with the collaboration among the various stakeholders since the arrival of the materials last night.
“So far, so good, I think there is the large collaboration between all the stakeholders here; the security services, the EC, the NPP, the NDC and other parties and independent representatives who are here.”
The Volta region has a total of 1,014, 804 total registered voters with some 9,030 persons expected to take part in the special voting to be held on Monday, 2nd December, 2024 across some 22 voting centers.
With the arrival of the materials, the District police commands are expected to take custody of the materials for the special voting ahead of Monday.
The rest of the ballot materials will be kept at the armory of the Regional Police Command until a later date when they will be released to the District commands for the general elections on December, 7.
