Bawumia is committed to working with Driver Unions to ensure transport sector thrives – NAPO tells drivers

Vice Presidential Candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has
assured Driver Unions that Dr. Bawumia remains committed to working closely with them to ensure that the transport sector thrives.

He said Dr Bawumia will ensure that the sector becomes a model of efficiency, safety, and profitability.

In a meeting with the GPRTU and PROTOA transport unions at Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, he emphasized that, as drivers and transport operators, they are key stakeholders in the journey towards national development.

Dr. Prempeh had an insightful interaction with the driver unions, a group whose industry serves as a vital pillar of Ghana’s economy, contributing significantly to the livelihood of many Ghanaians.

“Dr. Bawumia’s government will prioritize bold and transformative reforms to address longstanding challenges, especially road networks and fuel reduction in your sector and beyond. The Akufo-Addo government has constructed more roads than any previous administration in Ghana’s history. NPP administration has indeed been actively involved in various road projects across Ghana,’ he stressed.

Dr Prempeh highlighted the commissioning of the Flowerpot Interchange as one of the notable projects completed in the Greater Accra Region, including the Pokuase Interchange, Tema Motorway Interchange Phase 1, and the East Legon underpass.

“Beyond Accra, the government has also delivered the first-ever interchanges in the Eastern Region at Suhum and in the Northern Region at Tamale. Currently, 14 interchanges are at various stages of completion across the country, demonstrating the government’s commitment to establishing a safer and more efficient transportation network.

He was confident that these bold solutions resonate with the hardworking members of the Association of Garages.

NAPO also assured them that Dr. Bawumia remains committed to working closely with them to ensure that the transport sector thrives and becomes a model of efficiency, safety, and profitability.

Their support, he said, is critical for national development, and he was optimistic they will vote massively for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to lead Ghana into a prosperous future.

Bawumia’s running mate emphasized that, as drivers and transport operators, they are key stakeholders in national development. However, this vision can only be achieved if they come out in their numbers and vote massively for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to secure an emphatic victory on December 7.
