Bawumia victory sealed by numbers, not prophecy

Former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Sheila Bartels, says she is confident that former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has already secured victory in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) presidential primaries, stressing that elections are decided by numbers rather than prophecies.

Speaking to JoyNews on Saturday during the NPP presidential primaries, Madam Bartels shared her views on the role of prophecy in modern politics. She said while she believes in spiritual guidance, political contests should not be reduced to prophetic pronouncements, warning that such narratives could weaken public faith if outcomes do not align.

According to her, the growing link between religion and partisan politics distracts from what she described as the core mission of the Christian faith.

“It’s very interesting because I am also a woman of God, and I firmly believe in the power of prophecy,” she said.

“But my personal position is that there are too many lives that need to be saved for Christ. God needs prophets, teachers, mentors, evangelists and apostles to save lives for the Kingdom of God.”

The former MP said national politics, including internal party elections, should not be elevated to the level of spiritual battles, describing them as insignificant within the broader context of faith.

“I don’t think it has anything to do with NPP or NDC. In a way, we have infiltrated politics too much without thinking about the Kingdom of God,” she stated.

“I don’t know how a man on the pulpit, serving God, should focus all his energies on NPP primaries. In terms of the Kingdom, it is too insignificant.”

She said electoral history and delegate numbers remain the most reliable indicators of victory, while acknowledging that prophecy still has relevance for believers.

“If the numbers are there, what else?” she asked. “You cannot ignore history and focus only on the future. Numbers matter, and prophecy is also relevant, but we are at a crossroads.”

Madam Bartels expressed concern about the possible consequences of unmet prophetic expectations.

“I’m just praying that people don’t lose their faith in prophecy after this election, when Dr. Bawumia is declared the winner.”…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
