Ben Foster compliments but just does not rate Robert Sanchez
One pundit has offered some praise to a Chelsea player but at the same time has gone on to say that he is just not good enough right now.
Chelsea have done well to improve in many positions over the summer, signing some top and proven players such as Pedro Neto, Joao Felix, and Jadon Sancho to add to what they have.
EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea stepping up pursuit of Premier League striker – not Evan Ferguson!
But there was one position and still is one position that Chelsea fans seemingly wanted to see and still want to see their club sign in that is a problem position, and that is the goalkeeper.
Robert Sanchez has been so poor again this season, making many mistakes. Filip Jorgensen is still a bit raw and doesn’t quite look like he is close to being there yet. They loaned out the number one from last season, Djordje Petrovic. And they have a number of other half decent young goalkeepers out on loan or within the youth ranks.
But none of these are currently top number one options, and that is where Chelsea currently lack right now; the weakest link of the team if you like. And many pundits have been saying the same.
Foster doesn’t rate Sanchez
Ben Foster, who is perhaps more qualified to speak on this more than most being a pretty good goalkeeper himself during his long career in the game, has been speaking on Sanchez again this week.
Foster said on about Sanchez on his YouTube channel this week:
“He’s a specimen, he’s an athlete, and he can make some of the best saves you will see. But just some of the goals that go in, I just think no, like that can’t go in that easily.
That’s how judge a goalkeeper anyways, I don’t need to really look at the saves, I need to look at the goals that go in. Could you prevent those goals going in? There’s too many already.”
