Magic American exit may have opened up that solves Chelsea’s emerging problem

We wrote earlier today that there were just two options for Raheem Sterling if a Premier League move is off the cards – staying at Chelsea or going to Saudi Arabia. Nobody else is going to be able to come close to the £300,000 a week he’s on.

But this evening, almost as though by magic, a new suggestion has been made, this time by Graeme Bailey for HITC football.

He’s opened a new potential avenue, suggesting that MLS teams are considering an audacious bid for the winger.

It’s an exit that could suit everyone – Chelsea get their top earner off the books, Sterling leaves a club where he’s struggled to fit in, and MLS get a genuine star at their peak.

The 29 year old was booed by some fans as he was subbed off yesterday, and it feels like things might be at breaking point. The problem is the vast contract which still has more than 3 years left to run.
