C/R: ECG cable thief electrocuted

The remains of an electrocuted man have been discovered at Potsin in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region.
The man whose identity is yet to be established is believed to have been electrocuted while attempting to cut live electricity transmission cables belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana.
According to an eyewitness, Ebo Anderson, an area around the Potsin T.I Ahmadiya Senior High School experienced an outage on Friday night but residents of the vicinity discovered that some cables had been cut. The ECG following a complaint restored the cables and reconnected the area to its grid.
But at around sunset on Wednesday, a farmer who worked on his farm spotted the body which is already in a state of decomposition.
A pair of pliers and a backpack containing some cables were found beside him causing residents to suspect him of taking part in the cable cut which occurred last Friday.
Police have officially been informed and expected to initiate investigations into the incident.
Theft of electricity cables is becoming rampant in the Central Region. A similar occurrence at Awutu Okoampa, a community in the Awutu Senya District caused an outage which lasted over three weeks when thieves stole several meters of ECG cables recently.
The Papase area was also thrown into darkness when thieves cut some high tension cables.
