Two people were burned to death Thursday, July 13, 2023, in Assin Bereku, the capital of Assin North in the Central Region, after attempting to murder a 63-year-old woman in her room.
The victim (woman) who sustained a cutlass wound is being treated at St. Francis Xavier Hospital in Assin Fosu.
Angered by the development, the youth went on a search in the bush, where they arrested the two suspects who had gone into hiding.
The suspects, who were unknown in town, were lynched and burned to death.
In an attempt to save the suspects, the Tufohene of Assin Breku, Nana Kotroka Frimpong Baah, was nearly attacked by the enraged youth.
The deceased’s body was deposited at the Assin Fosu St. Xavier Government Hospital Mortuary.
Meanwhile, the Central North Regional Police Command has launched an investigation.
