Cock wins a landmark lawsuit to continue crowing
A French rooster named Maurice has won the right to continue crowing after a court rejected a lawsuit filed by disgruntled neighbors.

The case, which captured national attention, saw Maurice’s owner, Corinne Fesseau, defending her beloved bird in a court in Rochefort, western France. She told the judge that only a couple of retired vacationers had complained about the noise, while no other neighbors had raised concerns.
The neighbors, represented by lawyer Vincent Huberdeau, had demanded that Maurice either be silenced or that Fesseau move her home due to the early-morning crowing. However, on Thursday, the judge dismissed their complaint, allowing Maurice to crow freely.
Fesseau’s lawyer, Julien Papineau, revealed that the court also ordered the neighbors to pay €1,000 in damages.
The case quickly became a national sensation, with more than 140,000 people signing a “Save Maurice” petition and showing support for the feathery defendant on social media under the slogan “Let Me Sing.” Maurice’s victory is now celebrated as a win for rural life and the right of animals to make their natural sounds…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
