Commotion as popular skit maker killed

There was panic in the Lakowe community of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area of Lagos State after a popular skit maker, Austin, was found dead with multiple machete wounds.

According to a report by The Punch on Thursday, August 21, the incident happened in the early hours of Thursday, August 14.

Austin, who was also a professional hairstylist, was said to have sensed danger shortly before the attack. It was gathered that some suspected cultists stormed the area, targeting him specifically.

Upon locating his apartment, the assailants allegedly dragged him out of his room and hacked him to death on the spot.

A resident, who spoke on condition of anonymity for security reasons, revealed that the attackers also cut off Austin’s hand during the brutal assault.

“There was some sort of commotion early Thursday morning, but no one knew what it was,” the resident said. “It wasn’t until later in the morning that we were told someone’s corpse was lying somewhere around the community. When we got there, we discovered it was Austin. We also saw that his hand had been severed. That was when we realised the noise we heard earlier was connected to the attack.”

A video from the scene showed the lifeless body surrounded by sympathisers, some of whom were in tears.
