There are unconfirmed reports suggesting that former Brazilian football star, Dani Alves, may have taken his own life while in prison.
Weeks ago, authorities at Brians 2 prison implemented an anti-suicide protocol for Alves, who is facing a possible 9-year jail sentence for allegedly raping/sexually assaulting a girl at a nightclub in Barcelona on December 30, 2022.
Alves has maintained his innocence throughout the trial, but his mental health has deteriorated significantly since his statement and even prior to his court appearance. Prison officials are concerned that he may harm himself.
A former cellmate of Alves spoke to the program ‘Fiesta’ on ‘Telecinco’ and revealed that the prison has activated the anti-suicide protocol to prevent any self-harm.
Alves has been experiencing depression as he faces the prospect of a lengthy prison sentence. The trial has weighed heavily on him, and it appears that prison staff were providing support.
The protocol was put into effect the day after the trial, according to the former teammate of Alves.
