Eight Injured in Multi-Vehicle Accident on Accra-Cape Coast Highway

Nananom Junction on the Accra-Cape Coast highway was the site of a serious road accident on Wednesday, leaving eight people injured and one trapped in a mangled vehicle.

The crash, which occurred at approximately 10:48 a.m., involved a Sprinter Mini Bus, a Hyundai Hi Mini Cargo, and a Toyota Hiace. A rescue team from the Mankessim Fire Station, led by ADO II B. Eduful, responded swiftly to the emergency.

Arriving at the scene at 10:50 a.m., the team worked to free the trapped victim, completing the extrication by 11:10 a.m. The other eight injured individuals had already been transported to Mercy Women’s Catholic Hospital in Mankessim for medical care before the rescue team’s arrival.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation, but the crash caused extensive damage to the front sections of the vehicles involved. Additionally, several cartons of fresh fish being transported at the time were lost in the impact.

Authorities are continuing their efforts to determine the circumstances surrounding the accident and have urged drivers to exercise caution while using the busy highway.
