Ernest Kumi was intimidated with sniffing dogs – NPP MP alleged
Former Minister of Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye, has revealed that prior to the official transfer of power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the NPP received intelligence about a reported plan by some NDC members to launch attacks on key party figures.

Speaking in an interview on Wontumi TV on July 18, 2025, Dr. Okoe-Boye stated that the alleged plot targeted prominent NPP personalities, including former Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, former Attorney General Godfred Dame, and former Awutu Senya East MP Hawa Koomson, among others.
According to him, the intelligence from National Security was so serious that then-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo contemplated calling President-elect John Dramani Mahama directly to raise concerns over the issue.
“NDC members had threatened to attack NPP members such as Godfred Dame, Hawa Koomson, Ursula Owusu, and other notable figures. We received that intelligence from National Security, and it was extremely worrying. The report was so concerning that President Akufo-Addo considered calling Mahama personally to address it,” Okoe-Boye stated.
He further disclosed that Akufo-Addo directed then-National Security Minister Albert Kan Dapaah and the transitional team to engage the NDC leadership in order to prevent any potential conflict.
“Akufo-Addo instructed Kan Dapaah to meet with the transitional team to manage the situation, because if not handled properly, it could have escalated into violence,” he added.
