Football Impact Africa, the organisers of the Ghana Football Awards (GFA), has held a day’s health seminar to educate footballers to stay disciplined and drug-free while pursuing their careers.
Held at the Teshie Gonno School, the event was under the theme: ‘Ghetto love initiative: Teshie edition,” and was a collaboration between the National Anti-Doping Committee, Ghana (NADCGh) and Grace Gift Herbal Clinic.
It was attended by dozens of young footballers, coaches, kingmakers, opinion leaders, and parents who were sensitised on drug and substance abuse.
Officer in Charge at NADCGh, Prince Emekor Azanu, made a presentation on the devastating impact of substance abuse on health, careers, and communities.
A Board Member of the GFA, Mr Felix Romark, stated that the transformative event emphasises his outfit’s commitment to building healthy and resilient communities while showcasing the power of football as a force for unity, education, and positive change. The highlight of the day was a thrilling football tournament featuring eight teams from Teshie, including Books for Boots Academy, EAAK, Shinning Babies, Enter Street Football Club, Sambo 4, Turning Point Soccer Academy, Kingdom FC, and Vasajam Football Academy.
After some nail-biting soccer action, Shinning Babies and Sambo 4 made it to the finals, with Shinning Babies lifting the trophy via a 1-0 victory.
Participants were given free health screenings by Grace Gift Herbal Clinic.
