Good news for student as Students Loan Trust Fund begins 2nd semester disbursements

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has begun disbursing second-semester loans to tertiary students across Ghana.

According to the Chief Executive Officer, Saajida Shiraz, payments were successfully made to 19,703 students as of Tuesday, July 1. She noted that priority was given to students in private tertiary institutions, as their academic calendar is more advanced than that of public institutions.

This comes just ahead of the official launch of the ‘No-Fees-Stress’ initiative, set for Friday, July 4. The initiative is expected to significantly reshape the government’s approach to financing tertiary education.

Ms. Shiraz stated, “The days when the Trust Fund approved students for loans it couldn’t disburse are over. The revamped SLTF is now working diligently each day to fulfil its mandate of providing timely financial support to students.”

This latest round of disbursement reflects SLTF’s renewed commitment to ensuring students have consistent, fair, and efficient access to funding—part of a broader effort to support educational access and continuity.
