Haruna Iddrisu whips Asiedu Nketiah, Prof Jane Naana, Ato Forson as NDC flagbearer for 2028 – Poll

A fresh opinion poll conducted by political analyst Mussa Dankwa suggests that the Minister of Education and Member of Parliament for Tamale South, Haruna Iddrisu, is the most favoured possible presidential candidate for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) as the party looks ahead to the 2028 general elections.

The poll breaks down voter preferences based on educational background and shows Haruna Iddrisu performing strongly against other senior party figures. These include NDC Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Vice President Prof Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, and other leading members of the party.

The findings indicate that Haruna Iddrisu leads in most of the educational groups surveyed.

Among respondents with Junior High School education, Haruna Iddrisu leads with 31 percent, followed by Ato Forson with 26 percent, Asiedu Nketiah with 20 percent, and Opoku-Agyemang with 12 percent.

In the Senior High School category, Asiedu Nketiah records the highest support at 26 percent, slightly ahead of Haruna Iddrisu at 25 percent. Dr Cassiel Ato Forson follows with 23 percent, while Opoku-Agyemang records 9 percent.

Among respondents with tertiary education, Haruna Iddrisu again tops the list with 29 percent. Asiedu Nketiah and Ato Forson are tied at 23 percent each, while Opoku-Agyemang polls 8 percent.

Respondents with no formal education show the strongest support for Haruna Iddrisu, who records 36 percent. He is followed by Ato Forson with 20 percent and Asiedu Nketiah with 19 percent.

The poll also measured support for other notable NDC figures. Chief of Staff Julius Debrah recorded relatively low numbers, with his highest showing being 8 percent among tertiary-educated respondents.
