He became unpopular, arrogant, threatened his own party members, the MPs – NPP man fires Akufo-Addo
Dr. Richard Amoako Baah, a political scientist and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has stated that if he were the party’s chairman, he would have expelled former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo from the party.

He argued that Akufo-Addo must take full responsibility for the NPP’s defeat in the recent general election.
Dr. Amoako Baah said that although many within the party know the truth, they are too afraid to speak out.
“They are still afraid to speak up. They want to talk about the president, but they are not able to because he is the one who caused the whole defeat. It should be put on his head,” he said.
“He is the person behind this whole thing. He became very unpopular. He became arrogant, you know, and did whatever he wanted — even threatened his own party members, the MPs.”
“Some of them, he actually campaigned against. How does that happen? If I were the chairman, I would have thrown him out of the party.”
Dr. Baah also criticised the NPP’s National Chairman, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, for allowing Akufo-Addo to act unchecked. He alleged that the former president even threatened Members of Parliament.
Speaking in an interview on TV3, he further accused Akufo-Addo of trying to maintain control of the party despite leading it to defeat.
According to Dr. Baah, Akufo-Addo should have stepped aside quietly after the election loss.
“Akufo-Addo should have kept quiet, walked away into the sunset, and sat somewhere quietly. But he still wants to control the party,” he added.
