Househelp found murdered in boss’ apartment, blood-soaked body hidden in black polythene bag

Residents have been left in shock after the gruesome discovery of a young domestic worker’s mutilated body, reigniting urgent calls for stronger protections for household staff.

The victim, identified only as Abena, had been employed in the home for just over three months. Her remains were found stuffed in a black polythene bag and hidden under a bed in one of the guest rooms.

Blood trails were discovered from the kitchen leading to the bedroom, raising suspicions that the murder took place inside the house.

According to the Accra Regional Police Command, the discovery came after neighbors reported a foul stench coming from the residence, which had been locked for two days. When officers forced entry, they found the house deserted — except for the horrifying find under the bed.

“The state of the body was disturbing. Parts of the limbs were missing, and there was clear evidence of foul play,”
Superintendent Agnes Ofori, lead investigator, stated.

“We also discovered blood-stained clothing, a butcher’s knife, and gloves believed to have been used in the act.”

The prime suspect is the homeowner, a 49-year-old businessman who has since gone into hiding. Neighbors say he was last seen leaving the property in the early hours of the morning. His identity is being withheld as police track active leads.

Abena’s family, who live in the Eastern Region, revealed they had been trying to reach her for over a week.

“We kept calling her phone, but it was always switched off. We never imagined this,”
her sister, Yaa Konadu, said tearfully.
“She just wanted to work and support our mother back home.”

The Ghana Police Service has classified the case as a homicide and launched a nationwide manhunt for the suspect. The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) is also involved, as investigators explore possible ritual motives.

Human rights advocates and social welfare groups have condemned the killing, calling for stricter regulations, including background checks for employers hiring domestic workers.

The body has been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for autopsy, while forensic experts continue to analyze evidence gathered from the crime scene…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
