If you are driving at high speed and a tire suddenly bursts, do not panic. Follow these steps to stay safe.

Stay calm and keep both hands firmly on the steering wheel.

Remove your foot from the brake pedal and do not apply the brakes at all. Do not even attempt to press the brakes.

Keep the car moving straight. Avoid sudden turns and focus on maintaining your lane.

If you are driving a manual car, gently shift to a lower gear only after you have full control of the vehicle. If the car is automatic, keep it in Drive (D).

Do not use the brakes. The resistance from the burst tire will slow the car down.
