I believe in forward ever, backwards never – Widow of John Kumah speaks on her new husband

Apostle Lilian Owusu, widow of the late former Deputy Minister of Finance and Member of Parliament for Ejisu, Dr John Ampontuah Kumah, has spoken about her recent remarriage following public debate on social media.

She addressed the issue during a thanksgiving service at her church on Sunday, December 21, 2025, where she explained that her decision to remarry was carefully thought through and based on faith, love, and personal conviction.

According to her, the choice to move on was not driven by public pressure but by a deliberate decision to focus on the future rather than remain in the past.

She described her new marriage as one built on prayer and love, stressing that it was not entered into lightly.

“I believe in forward ever, backwards never and by the grace of God I prayed to God that for me I can’t go out and I have made up my mind to move forward.

“I will not allow pain to cage me. I have a lot to do. This is the culture of the family, no matter what comes, we look at the positive side and we move forward and by the grace of God… my prayers and my request, God carry a man to the house of God.

“They came for business alliance and it was love at first sight, as soon as he saw me, he pursued and fortunately, it was just within the time I was ready,” she said.

“We have been praying and God, and God those answers prayers, has given us a calm man and he is not a replacement, nobody has said we have gotten a replacement.”

Apostle Lilian Owusu remarried about 18 months after the death of her husband, Dr John Kumah, who died on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at the age of 45. She is now married to Samuel Aryeequaye.

Now known as Apostle Lilian Aryeequaye, she is the founder, senior pastor, and general overseer of Disciples of Christ Ministries, also called Disciples of Christ Ministries Worldwide.

News of her remarriage has sparked strong reactions on social media, especially on X, where opinions have been divided.

Some critics say the remarriage happened too soon after her husband’s death, while others made harsh comments such as, “Just know you can be replaced when you’re no more,” and “Fake tears all because the support system is gone.”
