The Red Devils held discussions with Brighton and Hove Albion regarding the young midfielder but decided not to make an official bid, a decision that disappointed many fans.

Reports indicated that Baleba himself was open to joining Old Trafford, though he stopped short of forcing a transfer. As a result, he remained at Brighton, while United shifted their focus to other targets.
