I have cursed the NDC – NPP’s Nana Akua Afriyie

Former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Afriyie, has expressed strong disaffection toward the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

She blamed the party for her defeat in the recent parliamentary election rerun, which was held after the initial results were disputed by her opponent.

The 2024 Ablekuma North parliamentary contest was between Nana Akua Afriyie of the NPP and Ewurabena Aubynn of the NDC. The constituency was one of 12 where results were challenged over alleged irregularities and procedural issues.

The Electoral Commission (EC) first declared Aubynn the winner but later reversed the decision and named Afriyie, a former MP, as the elected candidate. After months of dispute, the EC, together with political party representatives at IPAC, agreed to conduct a rerun in 19 polling stations on July 11, 2025.

When polls closed at 5 p.m., Ewurabena Aubynn emerged the winner, securing the seat for the NDC for the first time since 1992.
