I suffered marital abuse, he beat me and the children – Portia Asare opens up on ex husband
Ghanaian actress Portia Asare Boateng has spoken openly about the domestic abuse she endured during her marriage to her ex-husband.
In a video posted on Instagram on December 12, 2025, the actress revealed that she once suffered a severe beating from her former partner. According to her, the violence did not end with her—her ex-husband also physically assaulted their children during the same incident.
Portia explained that this was the first time she had experienced such physical abuse in her marriage.
“I suffered marital abuse. God is my witness, that was the first time he beat me. He even turned the anger on our children and beat them as well. The case even went to the Odorkor Police Station,” she said.
She further revealed that although the physical attack happened only once, her ex-husband regularly subjected her to emotional and verbal abuse throughout the marriage.
“He wasn’t someone who used to beat me, but when it came to emotional abuse, he was fond of it. He could verbally abuse me, and it was painful. That was the reason why I set up my foundation for women going through similar issues,” she added…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
