I’ll be happy if you endorse me – Bryan Acheampong tells Akufo-Addo

The Member of Parliament for Abetifi and New Patriotic Party presidential aspirant, Dr Bryan Acheampong, says he would welcome an endorsement from former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo if it happens.

There have been speculations that the former president supports Dr Acheampong’s presidential bid, although he has not publicly endorsed any aspirant in the party’s ongoing race.

Speaking on Face to Face on Channel One TV on Tuesday, December 23, in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu, Dr Acheampong said he has not received any direct confirmation from the former president.

“I will be very happy if he [former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo] does. He has not told me. He has not said it anywhere,” he stated.

Dr Acheampong, however, said his campaign enjoys strong support across the country, which he believes is more important than public endorsements.

“But I’m campaigning throughout the country. I have been endorsed more than all the endorsements you have seen. How many MPs have endorsed someone? All the endorsements of all the aspirants, if you put together, it’s not up to 500,” he said.
