I’m not scared of Bawumia – Adutwum

Presidential hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, says he was not intimidated by the rousing welcome Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia received at the party’s recent national delegates conference.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Dr. Adutwum said he had no reason to be worried.

“I was not scared at all. Why should I be scared?” he questioned.

His comment follows claims that the enthusiastic reception for Dr. Bawumia at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium may have shaken his confidence.

Thousands of delegates and supporters had cheered loudly and waved party flags as the former Vice President arrived, with many standing, clapping, and singing patriotic songs.

But Dr. Adutwum said the reaction was expected.

“Some people were just happy to see him again. He’s a former Vice President, and many haven’t seen him in a while. They were saying things like, ‘Oh, it’s been long since we saw him,’ and were happy that he looked good and was in high spirits,” he said.

According to him, the crowd’s excitement did not necessarily reflect support in the upcoming presidential primaries.

“Those who cheered him, how many of them will vote? Not everyone at the stadium will vote. So, if someone says I was scared because of the crowd, then the person is not being truthful,” he added.

Dr. Adutwum said he remains focused on his campaign and is confident Ghanaians will assess him based on his message—not crowd size.

“I know what I bring to the table. Ghana needs a visionary leader, and I am offering that vision. I’m not moved by crowd size,” he emphasized.

The NPP’s national delegates conference was held last Saturday and drew thousands of supporters from across the country.
