Interior Minister renews curfew hours for Bawku municipality
The Minister for the Interior, on the advice of the Upper East Regional Security Council and by Executive Instrument, has reviewed the curfew hours for Bawku Municipality and its environs in the Upper East Region.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, July 15 the new curfew hours will run from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, effective Tuesday, July 15, 2025.
Government called on the chiefs, elders, opinion leaders, youth and people of the area to exercise restraint in the face of the challenges confronting them as well as to use non-violent means to channel their energies into ensuring peace.
Meanwhile, there is a total ban on all persons in the Bawku Municipality and its environs from carrying arms, ammunition or any offensive weapons and any persons found with such weapons will be arrested and prosecuted.
This comes on the back of recent violent attacks recorded in Bawku, which occurred on Sunday, July 13.
The violence in Bawku township reortedly led to the injure of a military personnel.
On Sunday, July 13, 2025 some unknown youth unleashed a gun attack on the vehicle escorted by soldiers.
The military personnel also destroyed the statue of the Zugran of the Kusaug Traditional Area, Asigri Abugrago Azoka II and brutalised some civilians.
