JUST IN: Wontumi, Abronye likely to face suspension by tomorrow – Report (AUDIO)

Acting Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Danquah Smith Butey, has stated that the party will not hesitate to suspend any key member found guilty of misconduct after the Disciplinary Committee’s sitting scheduled for Friday.

Mr. Butey, who also serves as the first National Vice-Chairman, made this known in an interview on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem show.

He confirmed that several top figures, including Ashanti Regional Chairman Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Chairman Wontumi), Bono Regional Chairman Kwame Baffoe Abronye (Abronye DC), Communications Team Member Ernest Owusu Bempah, former Lands Minister Kwaku Asomah-Cheremeh, and another lawyer, have all been referred to the committee over alleged breaches of party discipline.

“All misconducts have been referred to the disciplinary committee. They will sit on the cases on Friday, and everyone found culpable will be suspended,” he said.

Mr. Butey emphasized that the NPP would not protect any member, regardless of their status or influence within the party.

“Nobody is above the party, not even me. The committee will write their recommendations, and we will take further action. If they recommend suspension, I won’t hesitate,” he stated.

His comments come amid growing internal tension and concerns over indiscipline among some party executives and communicators.

Mr. Butey, who assumed leadership duties following Chairman Stephen Ayesu Ntim’s medical leave, said his priority is to restore order and unity in the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.

“I am now the leader of the party, and the boldness and bravery I have is huge. If they recommend suspension, I will not hesitate. They can leave for the party to collapse; the NPP must stand on discipline,” he said firmly.

Sources within the party suggest that the disciplinary action is part of a broader effort to sanitize the NPP’s internal structures and reinforce its commitment to discipline, loyalty, and respect for authority after months of public altercations and internal divisions.

The NPP Disciplinary Committee, chaired by senior party elder Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, is expected to release its recommendations soon after Friday’s sitting, paving the way for the National Executive Committee to take final action…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
