Kennedy Agyapong ‘Goofed’

NPP flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has launched verbal attacks on former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, despite the fact that the comment he reacted to did not come from Dr Bawumia.

The statement that triggered Kennedy Agyapong’s reaction was made by the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi.

While addressing NPP delegates in the Ashanti Region, Chairman Wontumi stated that the party has always retained its first-time presidential candidates, except in the case of Professor Adu Boahen. He explained that Professor Adu Boahen was not retained partly due to poor health and other factors.

This assertion has also been referenced in some publications by close associates of the late Professor, which appears to support Chairman Wontumi’s claim.

However, Kennedy Agyapong, after hearing the statement, wrongly attributed it to Dr Bawumia and launched a strong verbal attack on the former Vice President. He described him as a liar and used offensive language against his personality.

“I have never seen a liar like our former flagbearer before. This man is a liar for saying that Adu Boahen did not contest because he was sick,” Kennedy Agyapong said, without verifying the source of the comment and incorrectly accusing Dr Bawumia while misinterpreting Chairman Wontumi’s remarks.
