Lecturer sets himself on fire

NIGERIA – Mr. A. O. Subair, a lecturer in the Department of Mathematics at the University of Ibadan, has tragically died after setting himself ablaze at his residence on the university campus.

Reports indicate that Mr. Subair, who hailed from Kaduna State, had earlier resigned from the university but had not yet vacated his accommodation at the staff quarters on Phillipson Road.

Confirming the incident, the Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Prof. Deji Omole, described the event as deeply pathetic and a major loss to the union. He added that all efforts to rescue Mr. Subair proved unsuccessful.

The late lecturer has since been laid to rest at the Akinyele Public Cemetery. He is survived by three children…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
