List Hearts of Oak and Kotoko players transferring out at the end of the season

GPS1 looks at five highly ranked superstars who may quit their clubs in the Ghana Premier League this season. Salifu Ibrahim of Hearts of Oak, Glid Otanga, and Steven Mukwala are among the important players who are expected to depart Ghana for better opportunities after the current season.

Ibrahim Salifu – Accra Hearts of Oak

Ibrahim Salifu, widely regarded as one of the top midfielders in Ghana’s Premier League, will be out of contract in June.

Despite injuries, the midfield dynamo has been brilliant for Hearts of Oak since his arrival, emerging as the finest player of the 2020/21 Premier League season.

Salifu joined the Phobians in February 2021 on a three-year contract from Techiman Eleven Wonders, and he played a key role in the team winning their first league trophy in eleven years, as well as the FA Cup.

Justice Blay, Asante Kotoko

According to a source close to the player, the ex-Medeama midfielder will not be with the club for long, as sources say he has agreed to join a new team despite having his contract extended until 2025.

Justice Blay initially joined Kotoko on loan for the 2019-20 season.

After becoming a fan favourite, Kotoko made the move permanent in January 2022, signing him to a two-year contract.

Although injuries have hampered his growth at the club, he appears to have regained form for Asante Kotoko this season, although he is expected to leave the Reds for a fresh challenge.

Steven Mukwala, Asante Kotoko

In the current season, the Ugandan international has piqued the interest of some of Africa’s premier clubs.

Mukwala’s contract with the Porcupine Warriors expires in August, after which he is anticipated to leave Ghana.

The attacker has been brilliant for his side this season, netting 12 Premier League goals and attracting interest from many African clubs.

Mukwala, who formerly played for Uganda Revenue Authority SC, joined Asante Kotoko on a two-year contract in August 2022, with an option for another year. He has been picked to Uganda’s squad for the crucial FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Botswana and Algeria.

Danlad Ibrahim, Asante Kotoko

A goalkeeper with an impressive background, having won the U-20 AFCON. The 21-year-old is expected to leave Asante Kotoko this season to pursue a fresh challenge.

With his World Cup appearance with the Black Stars, the young goalkeeper’s profile is rising.

Danlad was extensively linked with a move from the Kumasi-based team last season. Despite staying, it doesn’t appear that he has much time left to spend with the GPL record holders. He was demoted from his position under Coach Prosper Ogum and now sits on the bench.

If rumors are to be believed, Danlad is closer than ever to quitting Asante Kotoko after seven years.

Glid Otanga, Hearts Of Oak

We can confidently reveal that the Congolese midfielder will not be renewing his contract with the Rainbows at the end of the season.

According to reports, Otanga’s contract with the GPL giants will expire in August 2024, and he is considering quitting the club.

Since his arrival in 2022, the midfielder has established himself as one of the league’s top, drawing the attention of larger clubs.

However, there are questions over the Congolese’s future, and we can confirm that this season may be the end of his partnership with the Hearts of Oak.
