Following the passing of highlife legend Daddy Lumba on July 26, 2025, friends, family, and admirers gathered at his residence in Accra to mourn his loss.

Dressed in black and red, many mourners were visibly emotional as they paid their respects.

A woman who spoke to GhanaWeb TV shared that Daddy Lumba’s music had been a significant source of inspiration in her life.

Among the notable figures who visited the family were Gomoa Central MP Kwame Asare Obeng, also known as A-Plus, and media personality Serwaa Amihere.

The family confirmed his passing in an official statement posted on his verified Facebook page and announced by Daddy Lumba FM, his official media outlet.

“With profound sorrow and deep grief, the Fosu family announces the passing of Ghana’s beloved musical icon, Charles Kojo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away earlier today, Saturday, July 26, 2025, after a short illness,” the statement said.

He was remembered not just as a musician but as a cultural figure whose songs captured themes of love, hardship, ambition, and perseverance.

The family has requested privacy during this difficult period.
