Mahama was behind assaults on Hawa Koomson – NPP’s George Oppong alleges
Communications team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer George Oppong, has voiced his concern over the party’s recent defeat in the Ablekuma North constituency election held on Friday, July 11.

Speaking on Wontumi’s morning show, monitored by DailyNewsGhana, Lawyer Oppong asserted that the NPP must take full responsibility for the loss. He said the party lacked proper preparation and failed to treat the election with the seriousness it deserved.
He criticized the low voter turnout, noting it was far below expectations, and blamed it on poor mobilization by the party. He also condemned party members for abandoning the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Hon. Hawa Koomson, during the electoral process.
“Hawa Koomson was left on her own without any support,” he stated, adding that she was not in possession of any harmful substance, such as pepper spray, contrary to public claims.
Lawyer Oppong further alleged that President Mahama was behind a group of individuals who assaulted Hawa Koomson and even applauded them after the incident.
Despite the tensions, he gave the assurance that no violence would occur in Akwatia, emphasizing that NPP members would remain peaceful while safeguarding themselves and protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
