Mahama will win first round – Pollster

Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, has forecasted a decisive first-round victory for former President John Dramani Mahama in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

According to Dankwah, Mahama, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, is on track to secure an outright win without the need for a runoff.

Dankwah also anticipates a parliamentary majority for the NDC, positioning the party to reclaim dominance in both the executive and legislative branches.

Speaking during an interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Channel One TV in an interview monitored by InsiderGH.com, Dankwah’s projections diverge sharply from those of Prof. Smart Sarpong, Director of Research and Innovation at Kumasi Technical University.

Prof. Sarpong’s recent poll suggests a much different outcome, predicting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will retain a parliamentary majority. His forecast also shows NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia leading with 49.1% of the vote compared to Mahama’s 45.8%, a result that would likely force a runoff.

Dankwah’s own survey paints a contrasting picture, with Mahama commanding 51.9% of voter support and Bawumia trailing at 40.5%. These starkly different predictions highlight the uncertainty surrounding Ghana’s political landscape as the elections approach.

“No runoff, Mahama wins the first round. NDC will have a majority in parliament. I say NDC,” Dankwah stated confidently.

As the December 7 elections draw closer, the varying projections from political analysts underscore the unpredictable nature of the race, fueling debates about voter sentiment and party strategies leading into the polls.
