Martin Kpebu makes damning allegations against NDC

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has alleged that some former appointees of the previous government who were linked to alleged corruption may have funded political actors in the current government to avoid prosecution.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, clips of which have circulated widely on social media, Kpebu described Ghana’s political environment as “dicey,” saying political dealings behind the scenes often determine which corruption cases are pursued.

He said such practices are not limited to one administration but occur across different governments.

According to him, some individuals who were expected to be arrested after a change in government have remained untouched, raising concerns about political compromises made before elections.

“We are not that naive, okay? But we understand there are certain characters. You see them in the previous regime. Everybody was pointing hands.

“When this government changes, he’ll be the second or third to be arrested. the same in Ghana. You don’t understand how the elections were won.

“Before elections, people go and trade horses. They will find the opponent,” he said.

Kpebu further claimed that these pre-election negotiations, which he referred to as “trading horses,” often involve financial backing from politically exposed persons seeking protection when a new government takes power.

He said the lack of legal action against certain individuals, despite public allegations, suggests political funding may be the reason.

“Yes, some of this is. You can’t get the hardcore evidence. But we know that, listen, this person walks in town and he has no case at all against him. You can see that he must have funded elections. Yes, because that’s the only time it makes sense.”…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
