Me and other northerners are proud of you – Overlord of Dagbon

The Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Na Abubakari Mahami II has acknowledged the historic nature of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s election as flagbearer of the NPP for next year’s presidential election.

Congratulating Dr. Bawumia, who was paid a courtesy visit to the Ya Na at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi on Tuesday, the Ya Na expressed satisfaction at the historic election of the Vice President as the first Northerner to lead the NPP.

“I have noted with satisfaction, as well as other Northerners, that you are the first ever northerner to lead the NPP,” the Ya Na said.

“We definitely are proud of this achievement and know that you are more than qualified to occupy this lofty position in your party.”

The Ya Na added that Dr. Bawumia’s election is well-deserved stating it is a reward for his good works for both the party and the country.

“My son, your elevation to this high office is not a surprise to Ghanaians who follow our political
development in the country.

“Your contributions to your party and the development of Ghana provides ample reasons why you should be elevated to lead your party”, he emphasized.

The Ya Na also said; “No sincere and persistent contributions to a cause is ever lost and this is well demonstrated in the reward that has been presented to you.”

“This is a big responsibility that has been placed on your head and I pray that you will be up to the task and carry out your duties as successfully as you can.”

“Your Excellency, Nbapra, it is now left to you to prove hat you can lead them to the promised
land. It is not an easy task and you would surely need the support of all the other leaders and
their supporters in your party in order to deliver the goods to them”, he urged the Veep.

The Ya Na advised Dr. Bawumia to continue to be humble and prayed for God’s guidance and more success for him.
