Mohammed Kudus brilliant strike against Freiburg shortlisted for 2024 FIFA Puskas Award
Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Kudus has been nominated for the 2014 FIFA Puskas Award, thanks to his breathtaking solo goal against Freiburg in the Europa League last season.
The 22-year-old’s stunning strike, which showcased his exceptional skill, speed, and vision, has caught the attention of football fans and pundits worldwide. The goal has been shortlisted among the best strikes of the year, and Kudus is now in contention for the coveted Puskas Award.
Kudus’ goal was a masterclass in individual brilliance. He collected the ball on the halfway line, beating several defenders with his quick feet and agility before unleashing a powerful shot with his weaker foot that left the goalkeeper with no chance.

Having already claimed West Ham United’s Goal of the Season, Kudus will now vie with top contenders from around the world for the prestigious honor.
Other African players including Nigeria’s Paul Onauchu, Uganda’s Dennis Omedi, and Algeria’s Yassine Benzia have also gain recognition for their wonderful goals
Meanwhile, Manchester Unoited’s Alejandro Garnacho’s acrobatic overhead kick against Everton and Inter Milan’s Federico Dimarco unbelievable goal from just outside the circle against Frosinone have also been nominated for the top award.
Hassan Al Haydos of Qatar, Terry Antonis of Australia, Walter Bou of Argentina, Michaell Chirinos of Honduras and Hull City’s Jaden Philogene complete the list.
The winner will be presented with the award at the FIFA Awards to be held in January 2025.
