Mr. President the money is not in galamsey – Akufo-Addo jabs

The Convention People’s Party’s (CPP’s) National Youth Organizer Comrade Osei Kofi Acquah, has retorted that the continuous involvement of the Chinese in illegal mining popularly known as galamsey, is a return to neo-colonialism under President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s regime.

The youth leader maintains, the clueless and abysmal nature of the fight against galamsey has taken under a president who promised to put his job on the line goes to attest that, some people within the NPP government are benefitting.

He was speaking on Ultimate FM in a Kumasi- based local station.

‘‘How can a Commander-In-Chief who gets briefing every 24 hours tell me, he is not even aware, a rootless, notorious galamseyer, who is destroying our land and river bodies, has not been deported or not’’, he asked

‘‘Meanwhile, there was an order, that she should be escorted from this country, because she should leave the shores of this country, and the president cannot recall indeed whether she was deported or not, are our leaders serious’’

‘‘Under Nana Addo, everything is basaaa, he claims we are suiting on money, but he doesn’t know where the money is, the money is not in galamsey, it’s in industrialization, farming, our cocoa’’ he noted.

‘‘The Chinese are having a field day destroying our farmlands and rivers just like that, indeed one can say neo-colonialism is back under the NPP and the current president Nana Addo’’ Mr. Acquah bemoaned.

The topic of illegal mining popularly called galamsey, has been topical in Ghana after the arrest and current prosecution of galamsey kingpin Aisha Huang after it emerged government failed to deport her using standard protocol fueling her reemergence on the illegal small-scale mining front.
