My confidence is grounded in history – Dr Bryan Acheampong
Dr Bryan Acheampong has expressed confidence that he will win the New Patriotic Party presidential primary, saying his belief is based on history, preparation and a clear reading of the current political situation.

“My confidence is grounded in history, preparation and a clear reading of the moment we are in,” Dr Bryan Acheampong said, as he compared his ambition to that of past NPP leaders such as Dr K.A. Busia and former President John Agyekum Kufuor, who both won the party’s presidential slot on their first attempt.
He said the achievements of those leaders came from proper timing, clear purpose and messages that went beyond their immediate supporters, adding that similar conditions exist within the party today. “I believe this is such a moment for the NPP,” he said.
Speaking on UTV’s morning show Adekye Nsroma yesterday, Dr Bryan Acheampong said his campaign has gained strong support at the grassroots and that he is well placed to win the contest.
“I will win the primary. We have engaged directly with 90 per cent of the delegates. We have profiled 180,000 delegates and I can tell you with military-grade precision that we are winning. Give me a constituency and I’ll tell you where we stand today,” he stated.
He said responses from party members show a strong desire for change, discipline and effective leadership.
“They want change, they want discipline and they want delivery. They want someone who can unify the party, galvanise resources and win power,” Dr Bryan Acheampong said, adding that the NPP is moving into a new phase of leadership.
On the issue of regional balance, he rejected the view that leadership should be determined by where a candidate comes from.
“Regional origin doesn’t determine destiny,” he said, pointing to the party’s history of leaders emerging from different parts of the country. He stressed that competence, character, credibility and the ability to win elections and govern well should guide the choice of delegates and voters.
Dr Bryan Acheampong said the party needs renewal to rebuild trust and reconnect with its grassroots supporters.
“The NPP needs fresh leadership to rebuild trust, reconnect with the base, and win again,” he said.
Reflecting on his political journey, he said his four terms in Parliament have shaped his leadership style and understanding of politics.
“They have taught me how politics really works in building consensus, managing interests and standing firm when it matters,” he said.
“I understand the grassroots, the parliamentary caucus, and the national political terrain. That experience has prepared me to lead the party, win elections and govern with authority,” Dr Bryan Acheampong added…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
