My employers started withdrawing my blood because their mum was sick – Libya returnee speaks

She revealed that the ordeal started under the pretense of medical tests for the family’s sick mother, which later escalated into physical abuse.

Oluwagbenga explained that initially, she believed the blood withdrawals were part of routine medical checks.

She noted that workers in Arab households are sometimes required to undergo tests every few months to prove they are healthy, which made her comply at first.

However, she soon realized that the procedures were not being conducted in any hospital.

According to her, the family’s nurse repeatedly drew her blood without proper medical supervision, raising suspicion about the true intention behind the tests.

When she requested to go to a hospital for the tests herself, her employers ignored her.

Refusing to continue the unsupervised procedures triggered a violent response.

Oluwagbenga said she was physically assaulted until she fainted during one of the attacks.

She recalled that the beatings began only after she resisted further blood withdrawals.

The abuse included repeated hitting, leaving her unable to defend herself.

Her account highlights the extreme measures her employers took to force compliance under false pretenses.

The case gained public attention following a viral video in which Oluwagbenga was seen crying out for help.

The video shed light on her difficult experience and sparked conversations about the treatment of migrant workers abroad.

Oluwagbenga’s testimony provides a rare insight into the dangers faced by returnees from North Africa.

Her story emphasizes the risks that some domestic workers encounter when placed in vulnerable situations far from home.

She said partly, “They started withdrawing my blood because their mum was sick. I thought it was normal at first because if you want to go and work in an Arab house, they would ask us to do some tests every three months for them to be sure we are okay, we are fine. So I thought it was not until it became consistent. I didn’t even see the meaning to it at first.

“I just noticed that it was the same nurse who was treating their mother who kept withdrawing my blood without taking me to the hospital. See Video

So, I told them that if they want me to go and get a test, let me go to the hospital myself but they didn’t answer me. But when I refused them from withdrawing my blood that was when the beating started…CONTINUE MORE READING>>>
