My pastor said she would die if she take part in the BECE – Father stops daughter from writing BECE
The father of a brilliant student in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Municipality in the Central Region reportedly stopped his daughter from writing the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) due to a prophecy from their church pastor that she would die if she participated.
Local reports say the pastor prophesied that the girl would lose her life if she took part in the exams. Acting on this prophecy, the father kept his daughter at home and prevented her from joining her classmates on the first day of the nationwide examination.
The issue came to the attention of education authorities after they noticed the student’s unexplained absence. The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Municipal Director of Education were informed and stepped in to resolve the matter.
After discussions with the father, the officials managed to convince him to allow his daughter to write the remaining BECE papers. Sadly, by the time the girl was cleared to join the exams, she had already missed the first subject.
The incident has left many in the community shocked and worried about how spiritual revelations are affecting the future of students. Education stakeholders have since called for stronger public education campaigns to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) and other concerned institutions have not yet announced whether the student will be given a chance to write a makeup paper for the missed subject.
A father reportedly barred his daughter from taking part in the ongoing BECE examinations following a revelation by his church pastor that she would die if she sat for the exams.
