Naa Koryoo finally opens up on comments on election violence

The Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Philis Naa Koryoo Okunor, has clarified her recent comments about the ongoing investigation into the 2024 election-related violence, saying her remarks were taken out of context.

Speaking to journalists, the MP explained that she never denied that attacks took place during the elections. Instead, her call was for a fair and thorough investigation by the task force handling the case.

“I never said there were no attacks. What I meant was that we must focus on the truth and allow the investigative bodies to do their work fairly,” Naa Koryoo said.

The lawmaker recounted the tension and fear that surrounded the election period, revealing how she and her campaign team felt unsafe at certain times due to threats and violent incidents in Kasoa.

She expressed her gratitude to the President, the Minister for the Interior, and the Speaker of Parliament for their efforts to promote calm and ensure justice. She also thanked the security services and her constituents for maintaining peace in the constituency despite the heated political atmosphere.

Naa Koryoo called on all political actors to put aside their differences and work together for the greater good of Ghana.
