NAPO under investigation for the procurement of mathematical sets – Deputy Attorney General

Former Minister of Education, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, popularly known as NAPO, is currently being investigated by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

According to a report by myjoyonline.com dated June 12, Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Justice Srem Sai, confirmed the ongoing probe. The investigation centres on allegations related to the procurement of mathematical sets during NAPO’s time as Education Minister.

Dr. Srem Sai clarified that the investigation does not imply that the former minister is guilty of any offence.

“He said he has been going to the NIB for a while now. Nobody knew until he said it publicly,” Dr. Srem Sai revealed.

He further explained that the probe covers multiple projects carried out during Dr. Opoku Prempeh’s service in both the Education and Energy Ministries under the Akufo-Addo administration.

“There are several aspects involved. He was a minister for both energy and education, so definitely, we have projects that were undertaken during his time, and so, he will be answering questions concerning that,” the Deputy Attorney General added.
