NDC’s Alhaji Adam dead at 53

Alhaji Adam Muazu, the newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Lawra Municipality, has passed away at age 53.

As reported by myjoyonline.com, Muazu died after battling an illness. He had been receiving treatment at medical facilities but eventually succumbed to the condition.

Family sources revealed that Muazu was already unwell before his appointment and swearing-in as MCE in April 2025.

News of his death has left the Lawra community in shock.

He is expected to be flown from Accra to Wa and buried according to Islamic rites on Tuesday, June 24, 2025.

Muazu was confirmed as MCE with a strong majority, securing 33 ‘yes’ votes during the confirmation process.

His last official duty was a visit with the Upper West Regional Security Council to offer condolences to families and the school affected by the tragic drowning of seven students on the Dikpe River.

The Lawra Municipal Assembly is yet to issue an official statement.
